Georgian Dough Workshop

Hands-on Georgian dough workshop in Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv

Georgian chef Nino Pichkhadze teaches a hands-on baking workshop in Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv — where guests roll, fill, and shape traditional Georgian dough by hand under her loving guidance, before eating their creations.

Two Georgian classics, made by your own hands

Guests learn to make Khachapuri Adjaruli — the boat-shaped Georgian cheese bread topped with butter and egg — and Khinkali, hand-pleated Georgian dumplings filled with spiced meat or cheese, using family recipes passed down through generations. Nino guides every step, from working the dough to the traditional pleating technique.

Garden by day, candlelit table by night

Workshops are usually hosted in the garden at Nino's Garden; when the weather turns or the occasion calls for something more intimate, Nino moves guests indoors to her home, gathering everyone around her eclectically decorated dining table for a romantic, storytelling atmosphere. Sessions are generally conducted in Russian and Hebrew, with English also available. Fancy getting your hands doughy? Drop Nino a line and she'll talk you through what's possible for your group.

A teacher turned chef, trained by family tradition

Nino Pichkhadze moved from Georgia to Israel with a background in education, not professional kitchens — her cooking is rooted in family recipes and Georgian culinary heritage rather than restaurant training. Her food and cultural content has reached more than 16,000 followers on Instagram, and she has appeared on the Israeli television cooking programme Game of Chefs.

Quick Answers

Yes — small groups find it works well as an ice-breaker, with everyone working the dough together before eating what they've made.

What will I actually learn to make?
Khachapuri Adjaruli (Georgian cheese bread boat) and Khinkali (Georgian dumplings), using traditional family recipes.

Good to Know: Hosted primarily in Russian and Hebrew; English may also be available. A dedicated programme is available for children. Depending on weather and occasion, the workshop may take place in Nino's home rather than the garden.
